How Does Honda Sensing® Work?

Driving in Sioux Falls and throughout South Dakota can present its fair share of challenges. That’s why it never hurts to have another set of eyes helping you navigate the roadways of this great state. Honda Sensing® is a suite of advanced safety features and driver-assist technologies. New Honda vehicles that are equipped with this safety suite employ a host of cameras and sensors to help alert you to things you might miss while driving. If the system detects a potential collision or accident is imminent, Honda Sensing technologies will use visual alerts, audible warnings, and steering assistance to help avoid them. Adaptive Cruise Control

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) helps you maintain a set following interval behind a detected vehicle for highway driving. If the detected vehicle slows to a stop, ACC is designed to slow and stop your vehicle as well. After stopping, a tap on the throttle instructs the car to continue maintaining the desired interval.*

Traffic Sign Recognition

Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) displays traffic-sign information to assist the driver while the vehicle is moving forward. The camera can recognize traffic signs and display the information about them on either the Driver Information Interface or the Head-Up Display (HUD).*

Collision Mitigation Braking System™

The Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™) can help bring your Honda vehicle to a stop by automatically applying brake pressure when the system determines that a frontal collision is unavoidable.*

Road Departure Mitigation System

The Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM) can determine if you cross over detected lane lines without signaling and can also provide steering assistance to help you return to your lane or provide braking to help you keep from leaving the road entirely.*

Lane Keeping Assist System

With your hands on the steering wheel, long highway drives are easier with the Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), which subtly adjusts steering to help keep your Honda vehicle centered in a detected lane.*

Auto High-Beam Headlights

When you are driving at night above 25 MPH, auto high-beam headlights react responsively to the road ahead, automatically changing between low and high beams when oncoming vehicles are detected (depending on the surrounding conditions).

 

Blind Spot Information System

The Blind Spot Information System (BSI) uses sensors in the rear bumper to alert you when approaching vehicles are detected in an adjacent lane.*

 

Cross Traffic Monitor

The BSI also includes a Cross Traffic Monitor which can alert you to approaching vehicles detected when you’re backing up.*

Honda LaneWatch™

With available Honda LaneWatch™, changing lanes is now easier. Signal right and live video displays from a small camera on your passenger-side mirror.

1. Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) cannot detect all objects ahead and may not detect a given object; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed and other factors. ACC should not be used in heavy traffic, poor weather or on winding roads. ACC only includes a limited braking function; driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.

2. TSR cannot detect all traffic signs and may misidentify certain signs. Accuracy will vary based on weather and other factors. System operation affected by extreme interior heat. Driver remains responsible for complying with all traffic regulations.

3. CMBS cannot detect all objects ahead and may not detect a given object; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed and other factors. System operation affected by extreme interior heat. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.

4. Road Departure Mitigation only alerts drivers when lane drift is detected without a turn signal in use and can apply mild steering torque to assist driver in maintaining proper lane position and/or brake pressure to slow the vehicle’s departure from a detected lane. RDM may not detect all lane markings or lane departures; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed and road condition. System operation affected by extreme interior heat. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.

5. LKAS only assists driver in maintaining proper lane position when lane markings are identified without a turn signal in use and can only apply mild steering torque to assist. LKAS may not detect all lane markings; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed and road condition. System operation affected by extreme interior heat. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.
